And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.
—John 8:32

It's a feeling in the heart. It comes over us like the most gentle breeze. There is no hesitation, no suspicion, no more questioning. We experience it as the surest confidence, and we may even wonder why we spent so many fruitless and tiresome hours of our lives reluctant to accept it.

Or maybe, it wasn't a lack of acceptance. Maybe it was avoidance. Maybe we mistakenly cherished the turmoil, the uncertainty, the endless search. Maybe we enjoyed the delectable, but ultimately unsatisfying substitutes. Maybe we were just too busy to notice anything at all.

But then, like a tender feather brushing up against our cheek, we feel our heart settling. The striving, the push, the energetic hunt is no longer so imperative.

It is as if the trembling ground within our soul has become peaceful and still. The moments stretch before us with a measure of serenity, and our lives do not seem so scattered and shaken. When the truth descends upon us, as it will many times, we will not be able to miss the great feeling of inner freedom.

In the beats of time in which our lives are lived, we will know a steadiness and soothing rhythm that will assure us that we have touched the "really real"—heaven itself.

O God, when my heart is stirred and shaken reveal your truth to me and settle my inner confusion.
