The National Crisis of September 11, 2001
During this time of national crisis, we are deeply aware of our utter dependence on God for our ultimate security. In God lie our freedom, our life, and our hope for a more peaceful world.

Our prayers are with the leaders of all nations, the victims and families of these tragedies, along with the emergency workers who are dedicated to the care of others in this time of crisis.

We pray for those who are responsible for these misguided and tragic acts. We pray that their hearts and behavior may be changed by God's wisdom and intention for love among all of God's people.

When tragic acts such as these occur, God is equally pained. God calls us to gather in community, to work and pray together, that through God's grace we will find peace.

Almighty God, kindle, we pray, in every heart the true love of peace, and guide with your wisdom those who take council for the nations of the earth, that in tranquility, your dominion may increase until the earth is filled with the knowledge of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen
