Gracious God, nighttime is for restorative slumber, and when my child cries incessantly, unable to go to sleep, frustration fills us both. It seems that no matter what I do, I am unable to bring my child the comfort needed for restful sleep. I try to be patient and loving, but my own body is weary and  I long for quiet and a time of rest. Help me know that I am not a bad parent, only a tired one. Though we two are distressed and feeling choppy, your calming presence is always with us. Let stillness seep into my soul until I feel quiet inside. Then let that stillness wash over my child with the softest grace. I ask this for the sake of your love. Amen.
