As Far as the Heart Can See!!
Eagles have strong hearts and great power of flight, yet they have immeasurably more sight than flight, and they extend their vision much more quickly and much farther than their wings.

These wonderful words are found in the works of St. Francis de Sales, titled On the Love of God. In this season of Lent, a time of reflection and introspection, we are called to look to God as our source of strength and salvation. St. Francis likens our own lives to that of an eagle in its ability to see great distances.

This Lent, we too are called by God to explore our greatest strength. Our greatest strength is our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Out of this communion blossoms our ability to see beyond ourselves, and to see the world, each other and self in a manner pleasing to God. Our Greatest Strength is not our physical attributes or our intellect, but it is the ability to see the power of God at work in our lives making changes . . . making a difference.

In Lent, we are called to focus in great humility on Him who "offered Himself as a fragrant offering to God." As our lives become so directed by this Reality and this Truth, so our hearts are forever changed, allowing us to see beyond the things of this world. As our hearts become so inclined to follow the heart of Christ, so let our love for one another rule and guide our thoughts.

May God continue to bless you in this season of Lent, and give you peace.
